What to Expect During Worship
Thank you!  For being interested in the church of Christ located at Main Street in Hurricane, WV.  We first want to welcome you to attend any of our services and feel free to view, read, or share any material on this website or on our Facebook page.
 
Are you excited to serve and worship our Lord Jesus?  We hope so, and we are ready too!  If we are blessed to receive your appearance with us this coming Lord’s Day or for our Bible Study on Wednesday; you may notice a few differences about how we in the churches of Christ assemble. As Christians we are part of that one body (Eph. 4:4). Jesus Christ is the head of this body which is His church (Eph.1:22-23).  Since Jesus Christ is the head of His church we operate solely under His authority and by His inspired word (II Tim. 3:16-17).  We accept that God communicates to us through His word (Heb. 1:1-2) and that we stand fast to His word and use it as our guide (II Thess. 2:15). We do not operate off our own opinions or feelings. When you assemble with us you will see a cheerful group of Christians worshiping in spirit and in truth (John 4:21-24) observing the five acts of acceptable worship.

  1. Singing is teaching and admonishing by congregational acapella song (Eph. 5:19, Col. 3:16, Heb. 13:15).       
  2. Praying (Acts 2:42, I Thess. 5:17, I Tim. 2:8). 
  3. The Lord’s Supper is completed every Sunday (Acts 20:7, I Cor. 11:23-28,        I Cor. 10:16).
  4. Teaching during worship will be from our minister who will deliver a sermon prepared and based from God’s Word (II Tim. 4:1-4, Acts 2:42,           II Tim. 2:2, 1 Pet. 2:2).
  5. Giving is offered so you have the opportunity to give back a portion of wealth, which God has blessed you with (I Cor. 16:1-2, II Cor. 9:6-8,              II Cor. 8: 1-5). 
 
We look forward to having the opportunity to fellowship together and to worship the one true God. “Greet one another with a holy kiss. The churches of Christ greet you” (Rom. 16:16).     

Our Wednesday and Sunday Morning Bible Studies are conducted in a similar fashion.  We do excuse members to attend other bible classes which are conducted at the same time in different classrooms.  We have children classes arranged by age group.
